We all have a vision, but do we all follow it? Some people dream big, but that is all that they do. When you really are hungry for success and you can just taste it, you go after it. Dont you?
One Central State student is going after his dream and not letting anything or anyone stand in his way. Junior Jeremy Matthews wants to own his own business. Hes already started his own magazine called Level. Matthews hopes it will be a big hit on campus. He says the magazine is a forum for young people to present their views on issues that affect not only college students but people throughout society. Matthews promises that Level will take a positive approach in discussing these issues. He says it will never degrade women, like other youth-oriented magazines.
Level will have the following sections: business and electronics, artist profiles, community events, nightlife and entertainment, music reviews, video reviews, relationships, and fashion.
Matthews, a native of Cleveland who lives in Dayton, decided to publish his own magazine after watching a movie entitled Prozac Nation, released in 2003, which featured a character writing for her school paper.
Level magazine will first be introduced on the campus of Central State. If it does well, Matthews will branch out to different campuses and possibly to other college campuses across the country.
Matthews has a team of six staff writers and a promotion and marketing team with five more students. The company is looking for sponsors both individuals and businesses. In the meantime, Matthews will continue to invest his own money in what he calls his baby.
After graduation, Mathews says that he would like to continue building his magazine. If that does not work, he would like to build a recreational center for youth.
